The Digital Connection at WEC Grapevine

If attendees can’t make it to Grapevine, they can join the all-new WEC digital experience and gain access to relevant education and connections in a digital environment.

This digital event won't mimic the onsite program; it will be a wholly different experience that draws on relevant live content elements while bringing our community together. In addition to education, career development, and live-streamed general sessions, MPI is bringing you the first ever WEC Digital Connection experience. This networking event allows suppliers to meet 1:1 with planners of their choosing throughout the conference.

Networking Technology

The networking functionality is one of the most exciting benefits of the WEC Digital Networking Experience . AI-driven matchmaking ensures attendees and exhibitors can easily connect 1:1 or in groups. Matchmaking is powered by Grip.

grip

What is Grip?

Grip is a powerful, smart and intuitive networking solution for attendees and exhibitors. The matchmaking engine calculates who the most relevant people, products, exhibitors and sponsors are for someone to meet. Grip then presents them in the intuitive interface to maximize engagement.

How does it work?

Based on common interests and machine learning, the platform will recommend connections for attendees and exhibitor and make it easy to chat and schedule meetings. Featured exhibitors may schedule more appointments than Partner Level exhibitors.

Why is it important?

Creating meaningful connections has always been central to events. Offering a seamless, easy-to-use networking solution can boost the quality of interactions in physical, virtual and hybrid events. Ultimately, attendees can grow their network and leverage others to meet their objectives.

Benefits

  • Featured and Partner Suppliers will have the ability to request appointments with all attendees, either 1:1 or in groups.
  • Both suppliers and planner attendees can initiate appointments (e.g. LinkedIn connection request), and the request recipient can accept or decline the appointment request.
  • Digital Connection suppliers will have a maximum number of appointments they may request at one time – (36 for Featured Suppliers, 10 for Partner Suppliers. Only after appointments are accepted can exhibitors request more appointments with additional attendees.
  • All Digital Connection supplier representatives are automatically set up to take appointments (if a “booth staff” user type is identified at registration, only those staff members will automatically be set up to take appointments).
  • Featured Suppliers may utilize 50-person meeting rooms. These are great for product demos! Must be configured prior to event.

Supplier Tiers

WEC Digital Connection offers two levels of participation to suppliers:

Partner Suppliers

This tier includes a space on the “WEC Digital Connection” site which allows for networking, promotions and more.

Featured Suppliers
$7,500
This is the top tier available for purchase. In addition to all Partner Supplier benefits, it features premium functionality, additional ad space, and networking opportunities.

FAQs

"Booth" Space Functionality

Q: What kind of look and feel will the spaces have? A: Each space will house its own clickable ads, blurbs, company details and have a place to promote content. Featured Suppliers have additional capabilities such as video functions. Exact design is still in development.
Q: How will suppliers/planners be able to connect during scheduled time (voice, visual, text)? A: The platform will function very much like Zoom meetings – they allow chat, video, and sound.
Q: Will the supplier “booths” be grouped by industry type or other criteria? A: “Booths” will be grouped by tier on WEC Digital Connection page for easy browsing and brand recognition. There will be buttons near the top of the screen that allow attendees to search by supplier type such as hoteliers, tech companies, etc.

Profile Setup

Q: What information is requested during profile setup? A: Basic registration information (name, title, company, job role, etc.) will automatically populate the platform during setup. Additionally, attendees will be prompted to answer questions such as region, experience, and buying power. Questions will also be asked regarding the type of planner/supplier with whom the attendee would like to meet.
Q: When can attendees start setting up their profiles? A: Profiles may be set up as early as two days prior to the event.

Requesting & Scheduling Appointments

Q: How many group appointments can a supplier schedule at one time? A: Only Featured Suppliers may utilize the 50-person group meeting rooms. Appointment request limitations do no apply to these rooms.
Q: Are there any black-out times where no appointments may be scheduled? A: Yes. Appointments may not be scheduled during general sessions. All other times (including evening hours) are available.
Q: How do the appointment request limits work and what happens if someone does not respond to a request? A: Featured Suppliers will be able to send up to 36 requests at one time (12 per representative) and Partner Suppliers may send up to 10 at one time. Once all appointment requests have been either accepted or rejected, the supplier may request more appointments. Suppliers can rescind a request when needed.
Q: How many appointments will the exhibitor be able to make per day? A: There are no limits on the number of appointments. Suppliers are only limited on how many requests they can send out at a time for 1:1 meetings.
Q: When does a supplier have access to attendee information to start requesting and scheduling appointments? A: Two days before the conference, the supplier will be able to send requests to any attendees who have already set up their profile.
Q: How long are the appointments? A: Appointment times are available in 15-minute increments for both group and 1:1 appointments. Attendees will NOT get kicked out if a meeting runs over.

Matchmaking

Q: How does the GRIP AI matchmaking functionality work? A: As attendees fill out their profiles, GRIP will match planners with WEC Digital Connection suppliers based on whom they most likely would do business with. Matches are updated and displayed to attendees as the information is updated. Suppliers may send appointment requests to these matches.
Q: Can a supplier ONLY request appointments via their suggested matches? A: No. Suppliers may also search for any user within the platform and request an appointment. They may search by name, title, company, keyword and more.
Q: How does the LinkedIn function help suppliers make connections? A: This function is available to all suppliers and planners. LinkedIn info is automatically transferred into the platform if an attendee chooses to link their account to their profile. This provides additional ways for a supplier to connect to an attendees.
